The Haviland Story
In 1838 David Haviland opened a large china and earthenware import business in New York. He was so impassioned by the endless possibilites of porcelain that he moved to Limoges, France in 1842 and opened his own plant. He was the first American ever to build a factory in Europe. David's sons would progress this company further and call upon the designers of their respective times. Over the course of the years, Haviland china would be signed by Guyot, Dufy, Suzanne Lalique, Sandoz, Kandinsky, Dali and many others. Haviland has created china patterns for an equally prestigious list from Lincoln to Chirac, Grant to the Emperor of Japan. So when viewing this collection you can rest assured that Haviland is on the cutting edge of innovation and style, while still holding on to the traditon of a timeless passion for porcelain.
